We're going to the Mountains!

Okay... we WENT to the mountains. And we had a blast! Over spring break we went with our friends Becca and Jay and their son James to Gatlinburg. We rented a cabin with a beautiful view and just had an overall good time. We got really lucky with our cabin... the cost was extremely affordable and the view was great. It was a long drive there (of course nowhere near as long as Buffalo) but Payton did really good in the car. Here are some pictures (admittedly taken the last day because we were so excited to finally be there I never took pics until the last day!) of the cabin.
Our room upstairs. I didn't take a picture of Becca and Jay's room downstairs
The pool table area which overlooked...

Our back patio with lovely hot tub
And our view
Waiting to go into town for dinner
What a beauty
In Gatlinburg after dinner (we ate at Bubba Gump and I have no pics!)
Enjoying the king sized bed (and my water bottle that she somehow managed to open just enough to leak...)
The next day we went to the aquarium, Ripleys, and Guiness Book of World Records museum. However that post will take a couple days to get ready because I need to get the pictures prepared. And there are a LOT of them from the aquarium!

Another trip to the zoo...

When I was pregnant we decided that we were going to get a membership to the zoo. It has turned out to be more than worth the money. I love being able to go on a nice day and just spend the day there. And it helps that we have a really nice zoo. Payton loves to look at all the animals. In my dad's birthday we decided to go to the zoo because it was gorgeous outside. We took a ton of pictures, as usual, but I won't overload you with tons of zoo pictures. But here are just a few of my favorites.

Expect more zoo posts in the future because there is now a new dinosaur exhibit and a feed the giraffes thing that we plan to do this year.

Go Tigers!

Last month we got tickets from a friend to go to the Tigers game. Of course we took Payton because we are a sporting event family and figured why not?! She behaves and loves watching sports on tv so surely this would be fine. And it was. It was her first time down to Beale street and her first sporting event. And it was a blast (but not as fun as the Grizzlies game.. more on that in a later post).

9 months

Phew... we are back from spring break and finished with the first week back to work AFTER spring break. You know that week after a vacation is always exhausting. So now that I have time, I am posting Payton's 9 month stats.. and only a week after turning 9 months. Not too bad considering I posted her 8 month stats today too. Oops! I just have too many things I want to do and not enough time in a day. Anyways...

Sleep- Well... you sleep. You just wake up crazy early to come lay with us. One of these days we are going to break you of that habit but right now we are too tired to fight that battle. Maybe this summer when I am on break... Naps are still the same. Usually 2-3 naps a day.
Feeding- Breakfast is 8oz formula, 3tbs of oatmeal with fruit mixed in. There is a morning snack (I think). Lunch is around noon and is 8oz of formula, a fruit, a veggie, and an "other" (mac and cheese, stew, ham, etc). We have an after school snack together every day. Dinner is the same as lunch.
Weight-
birth- 6lbs 8oz
2 weeks- 7lbs 8oz
1 month- 8lbs 15oz
2 months- 10lbs 5oz
3 months- mommy's guess is 11lbs 13oz... I was close this time! 11lbs 11oz
4 months- mommy's guess is 14lbs 3oz (we will find out Thursday) I was close again! 13lbs 13oz
5 months- our at home estimate is 15lbs  due to a yucky cough we found out you weigh about 15lbs 10oz (dressed and diapered still)
6 months- at home guess 16 lbs 10oz but we will see on Dec 27 15lbs 12oz
7 months- our at home estimate is 17lbs 3oz
8 months- 17lbs 6oz so I guess our at home estimate last month was wrong because I don't think there was only a 3oz gain in a month
9 months- we haven't gotten on the scale this month so my guess would be 19lbs
Height-
birth- 20 inches
2 weeks- 20 1/4 inches
1 month- 21inches
2 months- 23 inches
3 months- 24 inches
4 months- mommy's guess is 25 inches
5 months- we haven't busted out the tape measure but based on the past few months I would guess 26 inches. I will have to check one of these days
6 months- hmm I will guess 26.5 inches until Tuesday 27 inches!!
7 months- it doesn't seem like your height has changed much so I will guess 27.5
8 months- I was wrong last month... you are 27.5 this month
9 months- You seem to have gotten taller so I am going to guess 28.5
Diaper size- size 3s finally. After we finished the "last" box of 2s we tried the 3s and they were still too big. So daddy had to go out and buy you some more 2s.
Clothing size- This is a hodge podge of a mess... anything from 3-6 months sizes to 9-12 months sizes.
Hair color-
birth- brown and a lot of it
1 month- brown but it seems to be lightening and even getting mommy's natural red highlights (you can see them in the sun)- still a lot of it- but it seems she is losing some
2 months- it is looking a little more red in the sun and is thinning out- a lot. She has two bald spots in the back of her head now, instead of just the one she was born with.
3 months- looking brown again and the bald spot in the back is just a hot mess. It looks like we took scissors and cut a straight line clear across the middle. The dr is guessing most of the hair will fall out and grow in a different color.
4 months- oh Payton we are so sorry for this genetic letdown. Your hair is a beautiful color brown with natural red in it, however it is thinning and what isn't gone is a wavy, frizzy mess. I sure hope that changes!
5 months- Still brown with red highlights and seems to be curling a little bit. Nothing too drastic yet but it looks like you may have some curls, at least in your younger years.
6 months- brown and the bald spot in the back is finally starting to fill in
7 months- same as last month and that bald spot is almost gone. The top layer in the back is really long and looks kinda funny but it's cute.
8 months- brown hair, lots of it, no more bald spot!
9 months- wow you did not win the hair dna lottery. But you are beautiful regardless. There is lots of hair up there and it is semi curly when humid. In the sun you have natural red like mommy and sometimes you can even see some blonder spots.
Eye color-
birth- brown/green with a blue outline
1 month- it appears she will have eyes like her daddy- some days they look green, other days brown, other days hazel, and even once or twice they have looked blueish gray.
2 months- they are more brown than green so I am guessing she will have big brown eyes.
3 months- still brown but they have their green days.
4 months- mostly brown but the green/hazel comes out every now and again
5 months- brown eyed girl
6 months- brown (lighter than mommy's)
7 months- I think it is safe to say we have a brown eyed girl
8 months- big and brown
9 months- beautifully brown
Favorite toy/entertainment- your favorite thing to do is... well there are lots of them. One favorite is to stand and play at your activity tables. You LOVE to dance. And you absolutely love to take things out of baskets/buckets. Your toys are all in a toy box thing now and your favorite thing is to take every last toy out of its basket and put it on the floor. You also did this with clothes I was trying to pack away. That bin is now a mess because you were just having too much fun to be mad about it.
Nicknames- I call you Payt sometimes.
Funniest /Favorite moments- Well...we had a great time on vacation with you. You just love taking everything all in... so much that you didn't want to miss the hot tub party so you had to hang out in your stroller so that we could all relax. It's also just adorable to watch you dance. You really get into it especially when daddy is dancing too.
Milestones-
You can stand unassisted for up to 5 seconds at a time (yikes for mama!)

I think you know that I am mama... but I am not sure. I wish you would learn dada so we could figure out if you really know or not.

You use everything as a walker now and are furniture walking.

Still just two teeth but we finally got a pic of them!

You can clap now which is just the cutest thing in the world!
Firsts-
Trip to Gatlinburg (post coming soon)
lots more foods
Tigers game
Time to an aquarium
Pair of real shoes
(It kinda seems like the past month wasn't a big month... but maybe my memory is just failing me right now. It was so hectic who knows anymore!)
Payton-

Good grief let's slow down time now! I am still shocked you are crawling and at the rate you are going you will be walking before I know it. We are not ready for that yet! You scare us enough with your craziness. But we wouldn't have it any other way. Watching you play is so fun (which is why mommy never gets work done) because you are constantly learning new things. You are great at figuring out why things happen and how to make them keep happening. We are so proud of how smart you are and are going to do our best to make sure it stays that way. We can't wait to see what the next month brings us.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

8 months! oops

Wow I have been slacking huh... I never hit publish on this one either! What a mess I am! Well because Payton is 9mos now and I am setting up her 9 month post, I will just post this without pics (AGAIN) for the sake of remembering.

Sleep- We are back to normal! Hooray for that. Most days you wake up between 7 and 8 but sometimes you wake up around 6 to come lay in bed with us (and inevitably you fall back to sleep). You stay awake a couple hours then take your morning nap. There is an afternoon nap that is anywhere between 1 and 3pm and an evening nap that is between 5-6. You are usually in bed by 9:30 for the night. Not too bad.

Feeding- Breakfast is 8oz formula, 3tbs of oatmeal with fruit mixed in. There is a morning snack that is puffs or a mum mum. Lunch is around noon and is 8oz of formula, a fruit, a veggie, and an "other" (mac and cheese, stew, ham, etc). We have an after school snack together every day. Dinner is the same as lunch.

8 months- I was wrong last month... you are 27.5 this month

Diaper size- still size 2s but as soon as this package is gone we are going to try size 3s and see how those fit. No point buying another box of 2s if the 3s will fit.

Clothing size- Typically 6 month clothes fit but we have had you in clothes that range from 3-6 mos to 9-12 mos. Mostly pajamas are the bigger sizes but a lot of sizes fit depending on the store.

Hair color-
birth- brown and a lot of it
1 month- brown but it seems to be lightening and even getting mommy's natural red highlights (you can see them in the sun)- still a lot of it- but it seems she is losing some

Favorite toy/entertainment- once you learned to crawl (just days after turning 7 months) you began pulling up on things. That made it difficult for us to get anything done because we were constantly having to grab you. So to solve that problems, we bought you a walker. It is by far your most favorite thing in the entire house. You love that you can get in that thing and just cruise around where ever you want to go. And watching you in it is the cutest thing ever!

Nicknames- Not too many nicknames anymore. Nonny calls you monkada (I don't even know where that came from). Sometimes chunks still comes out.

Funniest /Favorite moments- Well it was pretty funny when you decided to pull half the box of tissues OUT of the box to play. We had tissues all over the bed and you were just having a ball! Who needs toys? Another favorite was watching you play with Aubrey. You girls were just climbing all over each other (and stealing each other's pacis and bows...). It is also really funny to watch you zoom towards Roscoe's food dishes. You rush to get there hoping we won't stop you before you make it and you just crawl so fast it is hysterical!

Milestones-
Crawling!! Just a few days after turning 7 months you just got up and went for it. You never rocked back and forth and you never crawled backwards.

Pulling up on things.

Making sounds (baba mama gaga)... baba is definitely your favorite... but none of these are words as far as I am concerned... not until they are associated with something.

You have two teeth finally! The first one came in halfway then stopped... the second one came in and caught up with the first one and they both stopped... they are both in but we can not get a picture of them!

Firsts-
Valentine's day
lots more foods
time drinking from the sippy cup finally!

Payton-

You are really starting to look like and turn into such a little girl. We just love watching you learn and grow and are amazed at how quickly you are learning things. As much as I would love my little itty bitty baby back, I love these stages you are going through and it is so much fun! You are the happiest baby and only cry if you are hungry or tired. We wouldn't trade you for the world baby girl!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
