Payton turns 1... (yea over 2 months ago, I know)...

Happy Birthday Sign I made
I know we are late, but we have been so busy I haven't had a chance to get the pictures on the computer and ready for the blog. So we are going to combine her birthday party post with her 12 month stats. We didn't do a separate 12 month photo shoot because we took her to get her pictures done. This post took forever because I spent my summer keeping busy and working to prepare for this year. Since school started, I haven't even had time to do anything that wasn't for school. I finally finished editing pictures and can post this update.
Monthly pictures...thank you Pinterest for these ideas
Sleep- Bed time is around 8:30 and you sleep usually until around 7, sometimes later. I wish you weren't a morning person but no matter how hard we try, you just don't want to sleep in. You take one morning nap at around 1030 until lunch time at 1230 and then an after lunch nap usually around 130 until about 3. Sometimes they are longer, sometimes you skip one.
"I want this big present mommy!"
Feeding- You have all regular foods now. Three cups of milk throughout the day, meals, snacks, and water/juice in between.
Cake pops are not as easy as they should be... but they taste amazing
birth- 6lbs 8oz
2 weeks- 7lbs 8oz
1 month- 8lbs 15oz
2 months- 10lbs 5oz
3 months- mommy's guess is 11lbs 13oz... I was close this time! 11lbs 11oz
4 months- mommy's guess is 14lbs 3oz (we will find out Thursday) I was close again! 13lbs 13oz
5 months-
our at home estimate is 15lbs  due to a yucky cough we found out you weigh about 15lbs 10oz (dressed and diapered still)
6 months-
at home guess 16 lbs 10oz but we will see on Dec 27 15lbs 12oz
7 months- our at home estimate is 17lbs 3oz
8 months- 17lbs 6oz so I guess our at home estimate last month was wrong because I don't think there was only a 3oz gain in a month
9 months- we haven't gotten on the scale this month so my guess would be 19lbs
10 months- 19lbs even
11 months- at home estimate is 20lbs 6oz
12 months- 21lbs 4oz
Uncle Sean
birth- 20 inches
2 weeks- 20 1/4 inches
1 month- 21inches
2 months- 23 inches
3 months- 24 inches
4 months- mommy's guess is 25 inches
5 months- we haven't busted out the tape measure but based on the past few months I would guess 26 inches. I will have to check one of these days
6 months-
hmm I will guess 26.5 inches until Tuesday 27 inches!!
7 months- it doesn't seem like your height has changed much so I will guess 27.5
8 months- I was wrong last month... you are 27.5 this month
9 months- You seem to have gotten taller so I am going to guess 28.5
10 months- according to the Dr you haven't grown in 2 months! Still 27.5
11 months- I have no idea but I sure hope you grew some!
12 months- 29 inches
Opening one of her favorite gifts- from Nadia
Diaper size- still size 3s (at 12mos old). I think (at the time I am typing this in mid July) we will be switching to 4s soon.
This was the gift... we had to fight to get her away!
Clothing size- Depends on the outfit. All of your summer clothes are 12 months so whether they are too big or not, you wear them. You have a lot of 9 month stuff that you can wear and a few 6 month things that fit (this is due to you having no tush!)
See what I mean
Hair color-
birth- brown and a lot of it
1 month- brown but it seems to be lightening and even getting mommy's natural red highlights (you can see them in the sun)- still a lot of it- but it seems she is losing some
2 months- it is looking a little more red in the sun and is thinning out- a lot. She has two bald spots in the back of her head now, instead of just the one she was born with.
3 months- looking brown again and the bald spot in the back is just a hot mess. It looks like we took scissors and cut a straight line clear across the middle. The dr is guessing most of the hair will fall out and grow in a different color.
4 months- oh Payton we are so sorry for this genetic letdown. Your hair is a beautiful color brown with natural red in it, however it is thinning and what isn't gone is a wavy, frizzy mess. I sure hope that changes!
5 months- Still brown with red highlights and seems to be curling a little bit. Nothing too drastic yet but it looks like you may have some curls, at least in your younger years.
6 months- brown and the bald spot in the back is finally starting to fill in
7 months- same as last month and that bald spot is almost gone. The top layer in the back is really long and looks kinda funny but it's cute.
8 months- brown hair, lots of it, no more bald spot!
9 months- wow you did not win the hair dna lottery. But you are beautiful regardless. There is lots of hair up there and it is semi curly when humid. In the sun you have natural red like mommy and sometimes you can even see some blonder spots.
10 months- light brown and you have one layer in the back that is longer than the rest. Your hair is getting lighter and you even have some natural red in it like I did when I was little.
11 months- its lighter than it used to be I think but still pretty brown
12 months- light brown
Another favorite.. her very own quad
Eye color-
birth- brown/green with a blue outline
1 month- it appears she will have eyes like her daddy- some days they look green, other days brown, other days hazel, and even once or twice they have looked blueish gray.
2 months- they are more brown than green so I am guessing she will have big brown eyes.
3 months- still brown but they have their green days.
4 months- mostly brown but the green/hazel comes out every now and again
5 months- brown eyed girl
6 months- brown (lighter than mommy's)
7 months- I think it is safe to say we have a brown eyed girl
8 months- big and brown
9 months- beautifully brown
10 months- brown but not dark brown like mommy... just your own color brown
11 months- brown
12 months- brown
Her cake
Smash cake
We loved her cakes!
Favorite toy/entertainment- Oh wow... you got so many great gifts for your birthday that you are always busy. You love your smart trike from Uncle Sean, the Lil Quad from nonny and papa, the stroller from Nonny and Papa (you love pushing your real one so much we knew you wanted a little one for your birthday), and your basketball net from Daddy. But still... no toy left behind here! You still play with every single toy that you have.
Getting ready to dig in...
Nicknames- Payt
Yep. this seems like a good idea
Funniest /Favorite moments- This whole past year has been full of favorite moments and I can no longer pick just one. I love them all. I love when you get excited to see one of us. I love when you bring me a book to read to you. I love watching you dance around the house to any and every type of music. As frustrated as we can get sometimes, I wouldn't trade this past year for anything!

8 teeth
problem solver supreme

Carnival and carnival ride
trip to the Pink Palace
time to the Splash Park

whew your favorite words are goggie (doggie), mama (everyone gets called mama now), and guck (duck)
Showing how much she dug into the cake
I know it seems like not a lot has happened this past month, but it really has. She hit her big milestone early and now we are just growing up. I haven't quite figured out how I will do Payton's stats' updates yet. I am thinking that I will maybe do a post at every doctor appointment interval. All the big stuff gets posted in its own post anyways. We will see. Maybe I will put an end to the regular stats posts and randomly do them... who knows. (As of mid August when this is posting, I still haven't figured it out. I think I will just stick to random posts and if something big happens, post about it. I can't keep up with monthly posts anymore, as you can see. And not a lot of BIG milestones are coming anymore.)

We love you baby girl! The past year has been amazing! Happy 1st birthday!

We are trying to come back...

The end of summer got away from us. Things got hectic with trying to get ready for work and other things. I am devastated that I did not get caught up with my blog before I went back to work... but as you can see if you read along, I still haven't even posted about Payton's birthday and that was 2 months ago! I realized today why I stopped posting... I was getting annoyed with editing my pictures. I have photoshop elements but have not taken it out of the box to even learn to use it yet. So for now I use aperture 3. But every time I add my borders and watermarks, it takes away and edits that I brushed on. Meaning I have to edit my pictures twice (because I want the original edited as well as the one I post on here). Anyways... back to our summer of fun...

For those of you who can't remember (because it has been so long) we left off in Atlanta with our 2nd Braves game. Our last day in Atlanta arrived (sad face... big fat sad face) and we had plans to go to a Tour of Turner Field. We did a morning tour because we had to leave to head back home (and I just had to stop at the container store before we left- no pictures of this, though I sure should have because I am obsessed). We arrived early enough to take some pictures of Payton outside...
And then went inside and waited for the actual tour to start. Payton wanted to get in the bus seat...
We looked at all of the displays but I will spare you from seeing a million different pictures of Braves memorabilia. But I will share the two Chipper Jones pictures that we took...

And then the tour finally started. It was hot and we were without stroller (because Tim knew we would be going up and down stairs and there was no point to it). Tim took this picture and I think it turned out pretty darn cool!
And this view is where the old field used to be. We did walk over there after the trip and had someone take a picture of the 3 of us (those pictures at the end).
 Payton in the big chairs...
I really liked this mural and it took us walking past it the second time to finally get a picture I liked because our tour guide was a bit hasty!
Tim and Payton in the announcer's chair. Payton is ready to take over and announce! I always wondered how announcers knew all the names etc.... they are taped up everywhere in there for both teams!

And then we went out to the dugout. Payton and Tim were taking it all in..

Again... our hasty tour guide didn't seem to understand how important these pictures were and she was rushing us to get back in line.
This marked the end of our tour. I think it was really cool. We went to other places too (club areas etc.) but these are just some of our favorite pictures. Next we walked over to the old field area (which is now the parking area) and took pictures. We walked all the way over to where Hank Aaron's 715th homerun was hit (this broke Babe Ruth's record at the time... and no- I will admit- I could not remember the details... thank goodness for Tim)
And then Tim took Payton to practice her swing where home plate used to be.
And because I was obsessed with the 96 Olympics I took the next few pictures.

Overall it was an amazing trip and I am already trying to figure out when we can go back. I really loved Atlanta and plan to go back sooner rather than later.

What I Thought About it Thursday

When I finished the Maya Davis series, I wanted to read a book that wasn't part of a series. Another of my favorite authors is Emily Giffin. So I decided on her book
and when I say I could not put it down, I am not kidding. It is one of those books that make you want to keep turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. The story is about two women and told in alternating chapters (which is probably another reason I kept turning the pages... as Tessa would tell her side of the story, I wanted to read Valerie's chapter to see what her side was).
So let's meet the characters and delve into the plot shall we?

Tessa- is married to leading pediatric plastic surgeon. She is always thinking of the "final ordinary moment before a tragedy" not realizing that she is about to have her own final ordinary moment to relive. She becomes paranoid about her relationship  and her family doesn't seem so supportive of her choice to be a SAHM, which is causing her to be even more insecure. Does she have a reason to feel this way? It may not seem so at first... until she checks the messages on her husbands phone.

Valerie- is a protective single mama. She worked hard to succeed and get out of her hometown only to have it all appear to come tumbling down, when in a lonely time she "fell in love with the wrong guy, got pregnant right before he left her, and jeopardized her plans for law school". She made it out alright and became a lawyer despite all that. But like I said, she is a very protective mama. She reluctantly allows her 6 year old son to go to a sleepover party and gets a call that he has been burned and on the way to the ER. Serious burns. PICU burn unit serious. And in enters Tessa's husband Nick (remember leading pediatric plastic surgeon). Valerie and Nick seem to be getting close and in the first half of the book I kept thinking nuh uh he better not leave his wife for her... but then, somewhere near the halfway point of the book, I found myself torn. I didn't know how I felt (not that I condone affairs and cheating, but I felt bad for all 3 people here).

The book was a constant will they won' they. I am not sure how I feel about the ending of this one (I don't want to say why because it will give away way too much information) so if you read this one please let me know how you felt about the ending! Regardless of how the ending made me feel, I still give the book 5 stars and suggest you read it... and if you have a nook it is only $2.99 right now! (well at least at the time of this typing it was... hopefully it still is when this posts). Either way... it is worth it at full price too!
